Magic trackpad 2 windows 10 reddit Bluetooth#
In terms of what I think of it, I think it's pretty great for my use-case (as I also have an iPad where I can use it there and also like I mentioned in another post, the MT2 works perfectly through native support with native gestures on bluetooth with ChromeOS, and since for my studies all I need is a browser it fits me just fine). If you're someone who doesn't own a MT2 and wants to use W10, I suggest if you really want to buy it, get it from a place where you know you can return it easily of you aren't happy with your purchase. Apart from these two issues tho, if you're someone that already has a MT2 and want to use W10, go for it and give it a try. The sensitivity thing is apparently hardcoded into the touchpad and a fix is on it's way (I think in the form of a separate program for it, unsure here really) and also bluetooth is being worked on and should release sometime this year. With those two issues, both of them are being worked on. This might be a deal breaker to some but at least for me it isn't so bad. And the #2 issue: you have to use it exclusively as a wired connection. But for W10 users who can't break the habit (like me), it's an issue really. This issue is solved by exclusively using both one finger to move the cursor and the same finger to click on (I think this is a W10 habit since our touchpads are always diving board mechanism, so if a Mac user where to use the MT2 on W10 they shouldn't have this issue much). I think this also causes the other glitch where if you're using the middle finger to move the cursor and the index finger to click, if you move a bit the cursor a bit to click in a place, the cursor will jump back to where it originally was where the middle finger is compared to where you moved it with the index finger. If you for example want to do any gesture, make sure you're only making contact and separating your other fingers, as it will register if not careful enough the others not touching/floating on it. If you slightly leave elevated your other fingers while using the touchpad, make sure you elevate them enough as if you're just barely touching it, it will input them as a touch.

This may sound minor as you'd imagine it's just the instances when you intend to do such a glitch, but no it actually happens with everything you do.

#1 there's a sensitivity issue where if you lightly pass your fingers on the touchpad without touching, it will input a full fledged response as if you were directly touching it. It has all the great gesture support W10 precision touchpads have, but there's two big issues with it. In terms of the actual performance tho, it isn't 100% perfect. Also have inverted scrolling (or real scrolling which I think on Macs is the real way scrolling should be). You can remove "use the bottom right corner of the touchpad to right click" and automatically get the full Mac touchpad experience (it's what I also do with all my W10 touchpads and it genuinely feels superior). I have never used a Mac touchpad myself but comparing this touchpad to my other Windows 10 touchpads, it's honestly pretty good of an experience. And since the gestures aren't native to the OS itself (it doesn't work through precision at all) you're still missing a few other ones there.

Biggest downside to MU is that it's a paid (mind you, subscription based) software so it's best not to go that route unless you really want to.

It's honestly the best experience you'll get out of the MT2 on Windows as all drivers for it are either the standard basic one W10 comes with (with has 0 gesture support), one called Touchpad++ (which I haven't tried but I heard is pretty bad) and another called MagicUtilities which is a paid software that does have some gestures but no pinch zooming. Wired through custom made W10 touchpad precision drivers.
